There are a lot of places to rent bicycles in San Francisco. It is even possible to rent an electric scooter that looks like a mini car. Every bike rental company that I have found so far suggests riding through Fisherman's Wharf and then riding across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, and catching a ferry back. The ride across the bridge is only 1.7 miles. Total mileage to Sausalito is about 8 miles, if I remember correctly. But Sausalito is downhill from the bridge - they refer to it as "coasting down" to Sausalito. I imagine it will be a hard ride back. Besides, the ferry ride sounds like fun.
So I'd like to rent the bike and ride the bridge. I may or may not actually do it. But it's going on my list. List so far is:
- Chinatown
- Pridefest
- Fisherman's Wharf
- Trolley Car
- Haight Ashbury
- Dancing at a few niteclubs
- Bike the bridge
- Train trip, of course
